My name is Bob Herzog.  I began viola while in 3rd grade right here in the Phoenix area.  At age 14, I was accepted into the Phoenix Symphony where I performed for 11 years.

Briefly About Me

Some of the groups I have performed in are the Phoenix Symphony, the Colorado Springs Symphony, the Tempe Symphony, the Mesa Symphony, and the Chandler Symphony holding the positions of Principal Violist, Board Member and President.

I currently perform viola in, and am a Trustee on the Board of Directors of The Scottsdale Philharmonic.

Currently, I perform as The Starlight Strings which can include your favorite size of string ensemble, be it a quartet, trio, duo, or even the solo of The Starlight Strings Violinist.  This very unique presentation blends the live acoustic solo violin sound with exclusively prerecorded keyboard accompaniments.  The result is a fullness of sound that far exceeds it's reasonable cost.  It's like getting 2 musicians for little more than the price of one (a main reason for it's rapid success).  This combination is well heard in both indoor and outdoor settings.

For increased elegance, a vocalist, guitarist, or trumpeter can be added to The Starlight Strings Quartet if desired.

Musical Experience

The Starlight Strings

During college years, I was in the ASU symphony and attended the Taos (NM) School of Chamber Music during the summers.  Then joining the military, I was accepted into the Air Force Academy Strolling Strings in Colorado Springs, Co.

In 1993, I founded and was the violist in a local string quartet and became a major string music contractor.  We performed many hundreds of weddings and events.

Upon returning to Phoenix, I worked at Salt River Project (SRP) and became Senior Project Leader in the Water Civil Engineering department.
